The Journey That Led Me Here
There’s a moment in travel that most people miss.
It might be the sound of wings overhead just before sunrise, the quiet tension of watching wildlife move through the landscape, or the first bite of a meal that could only exist in that exact place.
It’s not something you plan for.
It’s something you stumble into.
And once you experience it, you realize—
this is what travel is supposed to feel like.
After traveling to nearly 40 countries with my wife, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for places where wildlife is still wild, landscapes feel untouched, and food is deeply connected to local culture.
Some of my most memorable moments didn’t happen at all-inclusive resorts, but in places far less travelled.
Standing side-by-side with a North Korean soldier at the border; Watching harpy eagles feed deep in the remote jungles of the Darién rainforest; Dining in one of the world’s top restaurants inside a converted church in Belgium.
These are the kinds of experiences that stay with you.
Before starting this blog, I built an award-winning wedding photography business and later ran an award-winning chocolate company—both of which shaped how I see storytelling, detail, and experience.
Dinner With Bears is a travel, wildlife photography, and food adventure blog for curious travelers seeking something more meaningful.
It brings together three elements:
- wildlife in its natural environment
• places that feel raw and real
• food that reflects culture and landscape
The goal is simple:
To help you move beyond typical travel and discover experiences that feel real, immersive, and unforgettable.
Because the best journeys don’t just take you somewhere new – they become stories worth telling.
